Ninth-grade students at East High School will no longer receive traditional letter grades on their biology lab reports and other assignments. Instead, they are being graded using a standards-based learning approach, where their skills are assessed on a scale ranging from “emerging” to “advanced.” This method is being tested in various classes, including English, Spanish, and algebra, as the school explores alternative grading systems.
