The World Health Organization estimates that 95,000 people succumbed to the highly infectious measles in 2024—mostly children under five, which continues to pose a threat to children’s health and survival. Vaccination is effective in preventing the disease but millions of children are underprotected. It is estimated that approximately 29 million infants were not protected from measles in 2025 and 77% of children did not receive the two recommended doses by WHO and UNICEF.
