Kashifu Inuwa, Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), stressed the need to integrate digital literacy and skills into Nigeria’s education system to better prepare students for future challenges. Speaking at a meeting organized by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), Inuwa highlighted NITDA’s goal of achieving 95% digital literacy by 2030, with an interim target of 70% by 2027. He emphasized that partnerships are crucial for developing digital curricula and adapting education to the technological advancements of the 21st century. Inuwa also noted that enhancing digital skills is essential for future employability and economic diversification. Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, Minister of State for Education, supported Inuwa’s call, emphasizing the importance of preparing students for a rapidly advancing digital world.
