Op-Ed: Why I Don’t Plan to Raise My Black Children in the US

The anticipation of parenthood for a Black woman in the US is filled with both excitement and fear, acknowledging the vast opportunities while confronting the harsh realities of systemic racism that disproportionately affect Black and Brown communities globally. The pervasive nature of racial discrimination and systemic racism is inescapable, impacting countries worldwide, with a unique and profound impact in the US that even surprises European countries, historically known for colonialism.
