March 19 2024- The Woodland Park School District has announced the closure of Gateway Elementary School for the upcoming 2024-25 school year due to low enrollment. The decision was described as difficult by Superintendent Ken Witt, with only 157 students enrolled from K-6. To accommodate the affected students, other schools like Columbine, Summit, and Merit Academy will expand their enrollment. Parents, heartbroken by the decision, have started an online petition to keep the school open and plan to voice their concerns at a school meeting scheduled for March 13.
