March 19 2024- The West Grand School District in Colorado is finding that electric buses outperform diesel-powered ones in frigid winter temperatures of -30°F. This challenges the notion that electric vehicles (EVs) have reduced range in extreme cold. The district’s experience suggests that retrofitting school buses with electric motors and batteries may be a more viable option than retrofitting them with diesel engines.
