San Diego Unified High Schoolers: Getting Great Grades But Troubling Test Scores

At three San Diego Unified high schools—School of Creative and Performing Arts, Lincoln High, and Madison High—high pass rates in classes mask significant disparities in meeting state standards. Despite 96% passing science at the School of Creative and Performing Arts, only 16% met state standards. Lincoln and Madison had similar disparities in English and math, with pass rates of 86% and 85% respectively, but only 23% and 13% meeting state standards. This analysis reveals district-wide discrepancies between class grades and state testing results among juniors, highlighting broader educational challenges.
