Publicly released in May, 2015, Discord began as a tool for gamers to communicate. Little did everyone know that in just eight months, this ‘typical communication tool for gamers’ would become one of the largest communication platforms in the world. At first, Discord primarily focused on communication for gamers, similar to Teamspeak, Ventrilo, and Mumble, all of which utilised the popular Voice-over-Internet-Protocol (VoIP) technology.
