At Bedford High School’s homecoming dance, a student received a threatening text from her ex-boyfriend, warning her to “watch herself” due to a potential issue. Upon learning of the threat, Bedford Superintendent Carl Shultz contacted the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, which determined that the ex-boyfriend was not an active threat and was not present on campus. It was later found that he lived in Ohio and had not been charged. The dance continued with increased supervision from law enforcement. Shultz expressed frustration at the disruption caused by such incidents, noting that it complicates events and educational processes.
