Almost every parent tells their child little lies. Stories about Santa and the tooth fairy spark excitement and joy. But not all fibs have a positive effect. I’m a psychologist who’s spent over 20 years working with parents, and I’ve seen the lies that well-meaning parents occasionally tell. Sometimes, they’re meant to protect a child’s feelings or motivate good behavior.
