Writable, recently acquired by education giant Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, is being widely offered to teachers in grades 3-12 as a time-saving solution. Here’s how it works: Teachers assign writing tasks to students, who submit their work electronically. Writable then runs the essays through ChatGPT, providing AI-generated feedback to the teacher, who reviews and adjusts it before returning it to the students. The tool employs a “human in the loop” approach, ensuring that no personally identifiable information is shared with the AI program.
