Student Fatally Stabbed in Classroom Fight at High School

A tragedy struck Maryvale High School in Phoenix late Tuesday morning when a classroom fight between two boys escalated into a stabbing.
Police said the incident happened shortly before 11 a.m. when scissors were used in the fight. Both students were rushed to the hospital, but one of them died from his injuries while the other survived without serious harm.
Authorities confirmed that a school resource officer responded immediately, detained the suspect, and rendered aid. The school was placed on lockdown for several hours before students were sent home early.
Parents and students said they were left shocked and confused, with limited information provided during the lockdown. Officials have promised extensive emotional support for the school community in the aftermath of the incident.
Phoenix leaders, including the mayor, police chief, and school superintendent, described the event as a “senseless tragedy,” stressing the urgent need to ensure safety in schools.
