100-Level Student Stabbed to Death in FUPRE by Elder Brother

100-Level Student Killed in FUPRE Hostel following a violent altercation allegedly involving his elder brother over a hostel dispute at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), Delta State.
The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun (FUPRE), Professor Ezekiel Agbalagba, confirmed the incident, describing it as a tragic development that has shaken the university community.
The attack reportedly occurred on Tuesday evening at Hostel C around 6 p.m. Sources said both brothers had been involved in a prolonged disagreement, which escalated over a dispute linked to bathroom slippers. The elder brother reportedly called the affected person to the hostel backyard to resolve the issue.
However, the confrontation turned violent when the elder brother allegedly stabbed the student multiple times with a dagger before fleeing the scene.
Despite the injuries sustained, the affected person reportedly managed to crawl to another section of the hostel, where fellow students found him and raised the alarm. Images circulating online show him lying in a pool of blood while receiving assistance from other students.
The Vice-Chancellor said the university had begun efforts to track down the suspect and hand him over to security agencies. He assured that the campus remained calm and that authorities were handling the situation.
“It was a misunderstanding between two brothers… We are trying to get the young man who committed heinous crimes and hand him over to the police,” he said.
Investigations are ongoing as the institution works with security operatives to locate the elder brother and establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
