< 1 min read

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin has amended a bill requiring Virginia public schools to notify school communities within 24 hours of suspected student overdoses. The amendment also mandates schools to provide detailed information to parents about suspected overdoses, including the cause, type of drug involved, and circumstances surrounding the incident. This legislation was prompted by delays in notifying the community about student overdoses at Park View High School in 2023. The amended bill will now be considered by Virginia lawmakers.
