Special needs students dropped off 7 miles from their bus stop in Northwest Portland

< 1 min read

In Portland, Oregon, two special needs students from Lincoln High School, Ruby and Lucy Day, were mistakenly dropped off 7 miles away from their home by a substitute bus driver. Despite living less than a mile from school, they had to navigate public transportation to return home, arriving an hour and a half late. Their mother, Emily Day, criticized Portland Public Schools for failing to communicate changes in the bus route and expressed concern for her daughters’ safety. The district admitted fault, attributing the incident to a contractor’s mistake and reaffirming their commitment to safe transportation for students.
