Onslow College Principal Sheena Millar and Wellington Girls’ College Principal Julia Davidson recently faced concerns over earthquake risks at their schools. Millar was alarmed to learn that her library, rated at just 15% of the New Building Standard (NBS), was vulnerable to earthquake damage. This came to light when the Wellington City Council inquired about the building’s safety, and she was distressed to discover that the Ministry of Education had already upgraded the building to 50% of the NBS without notifying the school.
