Salman Khan’s Third Attempt to Change the World of Education

In 2006, Salman Khan began his educational revolution by tutoring his cousin online, leading to the creation of Khan Academy. Originally a hedge fund analyst, Khan discovered the potential of digital teaching while addressing gaps in his cousins’ math knowledge. He started by recording lessons and posting them on YouTube, which evolved into Khan Academy—a nonprofit offering educational videos and popularizing the “flipped learning” model, where students learn at home and apply knowledge in the classroom. Khan Academy quickly gained support from Google and the Gates Foundation, expanding to cover subjects beyond math. Despite high expectations and significant growth, with 150 million users and content in over 50 languages.
