100 Black Men starts mentorship program through Boy Scouts of America at Bruce Elementary

< 1 min read

Bruce Elementary has launched a new mentorship program in partnership with the 100 Black Men organization, which includes the establishment of a Boy Scout troop aimed at providing guidance, especially to younger boys. Terry Basley, a father of eight and a new member of the organization, is taking on a leadership role in the troop to set a positive example for the students. He emphasizes the importance of mentorship, particularly for kids who may lack father figures at home. Members Daniel Morgan and Nnamdi Onyekwuluje, both Eagle Scouts, are actively recruiting for the troop and highlighting the life skills and community benefits that scouting provides. With capacity for 20 boys, they currently have 11 spots filled and are seeking one more adult leader to meet their requirements. Overall, the initiative aims to foster mentorship and teach valuable life skills outside the classroom.
