A high school track and field championship in Maine has ignited a national debate over transgender athletes competing in women’s sports.
Zoe Hutchins, a senior attending Lawrence High School in Fairfield, said her teammate had to compete against a transgender athlete during the Class B Indoor Track and Field State Championship. “My friend who had to directly compete against him kept saying it’s just not fair, and she is right. It is not fair, and it never should have happened,” Hutchins said.
