Students and teachers at Goodwill Private Schools in Ikorodu, Lagos, were thrown into panic and confusion as armed operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) stormed the premises on Thursday and Friday, forcibly ordering everyone out in a chaotic scene.

Eyewitnesses described the raid as terrifying, with students running in fear. A video obtained by PUNCH Metro captured a female student vomiting from distress before being rushed to the hospital. According to reports, the gun-wielding officers refused to let students and staff retrieve their belongings, leaving even primary school children shaken and distraught.

Vice Principal Olalekan Adewale recounted the harrowing ordeal, saying the heavily armed EFCC operatives arrived as if they were going to war. He said the agents, who were about seven in number, demanded that he sign an unknown document. When he refused, they pointed guns at him and the students, causing widespread panic. “The students ran in different directions for safety. When they suspected I was about to record them, they seized my phone,” he said.

In response, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale defended the operation, calling it a “routine visit” as part of an ongoing investigation into the school’s property. He dismissed the idea that students had been forcefully removed, insisting that “they were not supposed to be on the premises at all” since the school was under investigation.
