Egg row: Parents admit children to other schools in Mandya village

The parents of 84 students have taken transfer certificates (TCs) opposing eggs being cooked as part of the mid-day meal scheme at the Government Higher Primary School in Aalakere in the taluk, as there is a historical Veerabhadraswamy temple close to the school.  Gram Panchayat member Mahesh said they have admitted their children to the schools at Keelaara, Hanakere and Besagarahalli villages.  There were 144 children in the school. Earlier, bananas were distributed to the children. Some parents had asked the teachers to send eggs home instead of cooking them at the school, as there is a temple nearby.
