The Connecticut Technical Education and Career System must regularly report to the state following an investigation into the school system’s admissions practices for allegedly discriminating against students with disabilities. CTECS, an independent state agency of 17 technical high schools, failed to implement the educational interests of the state in providing equal educational opportunity through its prior admissions process and an “intentional, systemic process of reducing the number of already enrolled students with disabilities,” according to an Aug. 20 report by state Department of Education Legal Director Mike McKeon.
