Breaking: New Era in JAMB as Tinubu Appoints 39-Year-Old Registrar

President Bola Tinubu has appointed 39-year-old Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The decision is expected to influence Nigeria’s education system and improve fair access to higher education.

The appointment follows the tenure of Professor Ishaq Oloyede. His leadership is widely recognised for reforms in examination integrity and digital systems. Aina is expected to assume office after Oloyede’s term ends on July 31, 2026.

Education experts say stable leadership in examination bodies supports child development. It also reduces uncertainty for students preparing for tertiary education. In addition, it helps strengthen trust in the admission process.

Professor Aina is a Computer Engineering expert at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He specialises in digital infrastructure and examination systems. His experience is expected to improve transparency and efficiency in JAMB operations.

According to the Presidency, Aina has advised federal and state institutions on digital reforms. He has also worked on examination integrity systems. Officials believe this background will improve services for millions of admission seekers.

Child education advocates stress that leadership changes must protect fairness in education. They argue that every reform should reduce barriers for young learners. Equal access remains a key concern in the system.

Tinubu expressed confidence in the new registrar. He urged Aina to build on existing reforms and improve operational standards at JAMB. The President also called for stronger digital innovation.

Experts note that a stable admissions system supports child development. It reduces stress and improves confidence among students. It also limits errors and delays in examinations.

Ultimately, stakeholders describe the appointment as a positive step for Nigeria’s education sector. They believe it will strengthen learning outcomes and protect the right of children to fair and quality education.
