An investigation has revealed that children as young as four are being locked in school “seclusion rooms” for hours at a time in what experts warn is a troubling safeguarding practice. The findings suggest the practice is widespread across secondary schools, with vulnerable children, including those with disabilities, most affected. Reports also indicate that some children have developed severe emotional distress as a result of prolonged isolation.
