10-Year-Old Nigerian-American Boy Celebrates Birthday With Debut Book Launch in Virginia

A 10-year-old Nigerian-American boy, Rain Ikemba Igbokwe, has marked his birthday with the launch of his first book, Small Boy, Big God: My Story Before Ten, celebrating his childhood, faith and dreams in Leesburg, Virginia, United States.
The launch, held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the historic Douglass Community Center, brought together more than 50 guests, including family members, friends, classmates and well-wishers, to celebrate Rain’s literary achievement and 10th birthday.
For Rain, the occasion represented more than a birthday celebration. It marked the beginning of his journey as a published author, offering him an opportunity to share his experiences and encourage other children to believe in their abilities, regardless of their age.
His 47-page debut book captures aspects of his childhood, personal growth and journey of faith. Through his story, Rain seeks to inspire young people to recognise their potential, pursue their ambitions and understand that meaningful achievements can begin early in life.
The celebration continued on Sunday, October 11, with a Thanksgiving service, where the young author demonstrated his commitment to generosity by contributing towards a church development initiative.
His gesture reflected the values of faith, service and community that feature in his personal journey.
Rain’s achievement highlights the importance of nurturing children’s creativity and providing opportunities for them to develop their talents. It also underscores the role of families, schools and communities in encouraging young people to explore their interests and express themselves.
With the publication of Small Boy, Big God: My Story Before Ten, Rain has turned a milestone birthday into an opportunity to share his story and inspire other children to dream boldly, believe in themselves and pursue their goals.
