28 Days in Captivity: Falana, Others Intensify Pressure for Rescue of Oyo, Borno Schoolchildren, Teachers

Twenty-eight days after the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers from Oyo and Borno States, pressure is mounting on the Federal Government to secure their immediate release.
Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has called on authorities to intensify rescue efforts, warning that the prolonged captivity of the children raises serious concerns over their safety and wellbeing.
The development comes as President Bola Tinubu assured Nigerians that the abducted pupils and teachers remain a priority of the government. Tinubu said security agencies are using intelligence-driven operations to ensure their safe return while efforts continue to strengthen security around schools.
The abductions, which occurred in May, have kept families in distress as they await news of their loved ones. Civil society groups have continued to demand urgent intervention, stressing that every additional day in captivity increases the risks faced by the children.
As the 28-day mark is reached, attention remains focused on the security agencies, with Nigerians expecting concrete progress in efforts to bring the children home safely.
