Community Secondary School, Igbo-Etche Emerges Winner of NLNG 2025 Science Quiz

Community Secondary School, Igbo-Etche in Etche LGA of Rivers State has won the 2025 NLNG Annual Science Quiz Competition, scoring 65,041 points to defeat eight other secondary schools in the grand finale held in Port Harcourt.

The school received ₦3 million worth of science equipment, while the two student representatives were awarded a laptop and school bag each.

Government Secondary School, GRA came second with 63,982 points and received ₦2.5 million worth of science equipment, while Bonny National Grammar School placed third with 55,359 points and got ₦2 million worth of equipment. Student representatives from both schools also received laptops and school bags.

NLNG’s General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, Dr. Sophia Horsfall, said the company remains committed to promoting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through such initiatives.

She emphasized that the quiz is not just about competition but about unlocking the potential of young scientists to tackle real-world challenges.

Representatives of the winning school, Uguta Emmanuel-Chigoezi and Udoka Delight, shared how their determination, late-night studies, and teamwork helped them secure the top spot.

The victory is a testament to the students’ hard work, resilience, determination, and unwavering commitment to academic excellence, a shining example of what is possible when young minds are empowered and supported.
