FG Unveils Digital Education Tracker to Monitor Every School, Teacher, Learner Across Nigeria

The Federal Government is set to introduce a new digital platform to monitor schools, teachers and learners across Nigeria. The Digital National Education Management Information System (DNEMIS) will help improve education planning. It is also expected to support better learning outcomes for children.
The Federal Ministry of Education will launch the platform on Wednesday. Officials say it will provide accurate information about schools and learners nationwide.
Speaking in Abuja, Adebayo Onigbanjo, National Project Coordinator of the Special Programmes Operations and Implementation Unit, explained the need for the system.
He said Nigeria’s education sector has faced challenges because of poor data collection. In the past, different reporting methods made it hard to get reliable information.
As a result, authorities struggled to know the exact number of schools, teachers and learners requiring support. DNEMIS will solve this problem by creating one national education database.
The platform will record details about learners, teachers, schools and government projects. This information will guide planning, budgeting and resource distribution.
DNEMIS is the major part of the Nigeria Education Data Infrastructure (NEDI). The initiative aims to improve how education data is collected and managed.
Meanwhile, Mojoyin Adebajo, Special Assistant to the Minister of Education on Digital Communications and E-Learning, said the platform was developed using the District Health Information Software 2 (DHIS2) system.
She explained that DNEMIS would also change the Annual School Census process from manual collection to a digital system.
With the new platform, education officials can access updated records faster. They can also identify areas where children need more support.
The government said the initiative will strengthen accountability and help create a better education system for Nigerian children.
