International Day of Friendship 2026: Why Every Child Deserves the Power of Friendship
As the world marks the International Day of Friendship on 30 July, the United Nations is encouraging families, schools and communities to help children build friendships that promote peace, inclusion and mutual respect.
This year’s observance comes at a time when many children are growing up amid conflict, inequality and social division. The UN says friendship is more than a personal bond. It is a powerful tool for breaking down barriers, reducing prejudice and creating more peaceful communities.
