4-Year-Old Dies After Being Hit by Car in Florence

< 1 min read

Jamison Beck, a 4-year-old nonverbal child with autism, tragically died after wandering away from home early Sunday morning and being struck by a car. The incident occurred on the Weaver Road overpass over I-75 in Boone County. The child was hit by a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix traveling west, which did not see him enter the road due to dark conditions and an unlit roadway. The driver slowed down after another vehicle flashed its lights upon spotting the child near the road. Authorities confirmed that neither speed, alcohol, nor drug impairment were factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed as both Beck’s family and the driver are cooperating with authorities.
