February 15 2024- Kolton Robinson, a seventh-grader from Genoa-Kingston School District 424, emerged as the winner of the Genoa-Kingston School District Scripps Spelling Bee. The event, held at Genoa-Kingston Middle School, featured over 60 rounds, with Robinson securing victory by correctly spelling the word “malignant.” Sally Yang, a fifth-grader, claimed the second-place spot. The judging panel included Craig Butcher, Emily Fowler, and Stefanie Hill, while Alapati Uili served as the spelling bee’s announcer.
