Mary Ann Jackson, a long-time bus driver, claims she was fired from Missouri Central Bus Company after reporting unsafe conditions on a school bus, including diesel contamination. Despite denials from Missouri Central, Jackson alleges she was instructed to drive a bus with a stabbed tire.  The Missouri Highway Patrol (MSHP) is responsible for inspecting school buses, but concerns persist about the effectiveness of these inspections. Jackson advocates for scrapping all buses. Missouri Central maintains compliance with state inspection regulations and emphasises safety as a priority. Amidst protests and safety concerns, Missouri Central is ending its contract with St. Louis Public Schools, affecting 300 bus employees. St. Louis Public Schools is communicating alternative transportation arrangements for students.
