Alabama training helps new teachers stay in the classroom: ‘I am a better teacher’

February 7 2024- Aleccia Broughton, inspired by her own experience of encountering a system that failed to address her learning deficits and social-emotional needs, has become a teacher focused on helping struggling students. Broughton, currently teaching special education in Barbour County, is participating in a temporary certification program. This program enables her to work in a classroom while simultaneously taking courses to earn a full teaching certificate. Broughton’s personal experience with a supportive teacher who addressed her deficits played a crucial role in her decision to pursue a career dedicated to assisting students facing challenges
