Father Helping Son To Sit UTME Arrested

< 1 min read

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede, recently disclosed the arrest of a father who had impersonated his son during the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Expressing concerns about cheating, he highlighted that impersonation has become a significant challenge for the board. Technology plays a crucial role in identifying and apprehending impersonators. The Registrar also mentioned cases of individuals possessing two National Identification Numbers (NINs), which hampers identity verification, and stated that JAMB would address this issue with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC). He further noted that candidates missing the exam due to personal reasons would not have the opportunity for a reorganized session. Additionally, he emphasized that UTME results are valid for only a year, as the exam is considered a ranking assessment rather than an achievement test.
