Eli Shinhoster, a 16-year-old from Florida, has been charged as an adult for the first-degree murder of Eulalia Gonzalez on June 27. Shinhoster allegedly approached Gonzalez as she held her infant on her Homestead home’s front porch and shot her in the eye. Gonzalez, the mother of Shinhoster’s 18-year-old ex-girlfriend, succumbed to her injuries. According to police, Shinhoster had been threatening his ex-girlfriend and her mother since she ended their nine-month relationship two months prior to the shooting. He will be transferred from Miami-Dade’s Juvenile Detention Center to an adult prison.
