Teen Shot by Homeowner in ‘Ding-Dong-Ditch’ Prank Gone Wrong, Sheriff Say

< 1 min read

A Maine man, 30-year-old Vincent Martin, was arrested for allegedly shooting at a group of teenagers playing “ding-dong-ditch,” injuring one of them. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. in Harrison when Martin reportedly fired approximately 14 rounds from a 9 mm handgun, hitting a teen in the leg. The injured teen, who sought medical attention, is expected to recover from non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities were called after multiple reports of gunshots and screaming. The Cumberland County Sheriff stated that while the prank itself isn’t illegal, Martin’s response was excessive. Martin faces charges of assault and reckless conduct with a firearm. His bail was set at $5,000, and he has been ordered not to use or purchase firearms or ammunition, and to avoid contact with the teens involved.
