Historically Black fraternity, sorority advocates speak up at Statehouse on health care, education

“The Divine Nine” — historically Black fraternities and sororities, each with a legacy of service and advocacy — came to the Statehouse Tuesday to advocate for change, including a bill for Medicaid funding. “There is a difference between spending money and saving money and cutting resources that are reckless and I think you have to be able to prioritize,” said Valerie Harvey, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha.
