Seven American boys remain in the custody of Jamaican child welfare authorities more than six weeks after being removed from a troubled teen school due to abuse allegations. The boys were attending Atlantis Leadership Academy in Treasure Beach, Jamaica, a faith-based school catering to teenagers struggling with various issues. Following reports of mistreatment amounting to abuse, the Jamaican Child Protection and Family Services Agency intervened and removed them from the institution. The boys are currently housed in Jamaican group homes under legal representation. Atlantis Leadership Academy, established in 2016, has faced scrutiny over its practices and accreditation status. Efforts are underway to address the situation and ensure the welfare of the affected children.
