February 2 2024- Parkrose School District is addressing the issue of student absenteeism by installing washers and dryers in three elementary schools. Joining the national initiative led by Whirlpool’s Care Counts Laundry Program in partnership with Teach for America, these machines aim to prevent students from missing class due to challenges related to having clean clothes. Parkrose is the first district in Oregon to participate in this program, highlighting the district’s commitment to supporting families in need and addressing chronic absenteeism rates, a challenge faced by schools across the country.
