Toddler Realizes Mom’s Ignoring Her ‘Fake Crying,’ but She Has a Plan

A toddler, sent to her room, cleverly faked crying to ensure her mom could hear her from outside the door. This behavior, known as fake crying, is a common tactic used by children to seek comfort or attention from their parents. While many parents are familiar with this act, they may not realize how early infants can start using fake crying to get what they want. A 2013 study published in Infant Behavior Development observed infants between 7 and 14 months old, showing that even very young children can mimic crying to influence their caregivers.
