Years after New Orleans ditched district schools for charters, will Indianapolis do the same?

Indianapolis Public Schools leaders made a tough decision in 2008 to close six underenrolled schools. “Each of the selected schools serves far fewer students than the building’s capacity can accommodate,” the superintendent said at the time. “We simply can’t continue to operate this way.”
