Six Nigerian secondary school students received top global awards in the Cambridge examination series for June and November 2023. These students achieved the highest marks worldwide in English as a second language (speaking endorsement). They represent three schools: Brookstone School, James Hope College, and The Ambassadors Group of Schools.

The announcement was made by Mrs. Lucy Pearson, the Country Director of Nigeria British Council, during the British Council Recognition and Outstanding Cambridge Learners Awards ceremony held in Lagos.

Specifically, two Nigerian students received the award in the June 2023 Cambridge Examination series, while four students achieved this in the November 2023 series. 95 students from 37 British Council partner schools in Nigeria achieved the highest marks in various subjects.

71 students received Top in Nigeria awards for individual subjects. 48 High Achievement Awards and 8 Best Across Awards were also given out.

The British Council, in collaboration with Cambridge International Examinations, organized these awards to recognize outstanding achievements of students from British Council partner schools in Nigeria. The awards demonstrate the students’ talent, hard work, and the dedication of their teachers and parents.

The qualifications gained through these examinations are globally recognized and can help students attend top universities and pursue rewarding careers. The Cambridge education system is designed to help learners develop their potential through carefully crafted curriculum, teaching methods, resources, and assessments.

One of the awardees, Oluwademilade David, expressed excitement about the recognition and emphasized that such achievement requires hard work.
