Education Secretary Sonny Angara signed the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) for the Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act, which provides public school teachers with an allowance of up to PHP 10,000. The IRR, signed in the Senate with lawmakers present, outlines that this allowance is available to all public school teachers, including guidance counselors, librarians, vocational instructors, and other education staff involved in basic education and alternative learning systems. The allowance is intended to cover teaching supplies, incidental expenses, and various learning delivery modalities. Teachers will not need to submit receipts, and the allowance will not be subject to income tax. For the 2024-2025 school year, the allowance will be PHP 5,000 per teacher, increasing to PHP 10,000 starting in the 2025-2026 school year.
