Nathan Zarate, who was born over three months premature and weighed less than a pound, graduated from the NICU at Advocate Children’s Hospital after 300 days. His emotional departure was celebrated with a special sendoff from the hospital staff. Born on November 21 of the previous year, Nathan faced numerous medical challenges, including heart surgery, pneumonia, and a tracheotomy. Despite spending major holidays in the hospital, he is now heading home, having grown from 14 ounces to 14 pounds. Nathan will continue respiratory therapy but is expected to develop normally over time.
