Olalekan Abimbola Olawusi, a 48-year-old Nigerian man, is wanted by U.S. authorities for first-degree murder and child abuse related to the death of his 3-month-old son in Providence, Rhode Island, in 2017. The infant, found in critical condition with multiple injuries, died six months later.

Olalekan Olawusi was arrested and charged with child abuse in April 2017 but was released and fled the U.S. in June 2017, likely to Nigeria. In November 2017, the Providence Police and Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office enlisted the U.S. Marshals’ help to locate him. Investigations showed he left the country using his Nigerian passport. Olawusi is on the U.S. Marshals’ 15 Most Wanted list, with a $25,000 reward for information leading to his capture.

Authorities believe he may be receiving help from family members in Nigeria and could pose a threat to other children. He is described as 5’8″, 185 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Tips can be reported to the U.S. Marshals at 1-877-WANTED2 or via the USMS Tips App.
