Nigeria Launches ‘Nutrition 774’ Initiative to Combat Child Malnutrition

Nigeria has unveiled the ‘Nutrition 774’ Initiative, a nationwide program designed to tackle the country’s alarming malnutrition crisis among children.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, speaking at the launch in Abuja, described malnutrition as a “national crisis”, citing statistics showing that 40% of children under five suffer from stunting, 8% from wasting, and 37% are underweight.

The initiative, prioritized by President Bola Tinubu, brings together federal, state, and local government officials, who have signed a compact to enhance coordination, accountability, and resource mobilization across all 774 local government areas.
