Maryland addresses teacher shortage by hiring laid off federal government workers

There’s a new program aimed at reducing teacher shortages in Maryland by fast-tracking the entire process and helping laid-off federal workers get back into a job — it’s called the “Feds to Eds.” Data released from the Maryland State Department of Education in April showed Prince George’s County had the highest number of vacancies. Baltimore City ranked second, followed by Charles and Montgomery counties.
