Workers as young as 14 years old were discovered employed at a Tennessee factory specializing in the production of lawn mower components.

Labor Department officials found immigrant children as young as 14 working illegally at a Tennessee factory operated by Tuff Torq, which manufactures parts for lawn mowers sold by companies like John Deere. Tuff Torq was fined nearly $300,000 for employing 10 children illegally and was required to set aside $1.5 million to support these children. Tuff Torq claimed that the child workers were temporary and hired through a staffing agency using fake names and credentials.
