There is growing unrest in Ogwashi-Uku, a town in the Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, following the reported abduction of four children by suspected child traffickers. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, has left residents of the Umuokwe quarters in shock and fear.

Among the abducted children are two siblings identified as Ebube and Miracle. According to community sources, the children were allegedly lured from their homes by three women who had recently moved into the area. The women reportedly promised to buy biscuits for the children at a nearby shop, only to vanish with them shortly after.

Residents became alarmed when the children were not seen playing around the compound as usual. Concerned neighbours went to check the apartment where the women were staying, only to find the room completely empty. The women had disappeared, and the children were gone.

Police have since confirmed the incident. The spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, stated that the landlady who rented the apartment to the women has been arrested. According to him, the circumstances surrounding the rental were suspicious, as the women were allowed to move in without providing names, phone numbers, or signing any form of agreement.

“It is true,” Edafe said. “The children were abducted three days after the women rented the apartment. The problem is, there is no trace. They just came, said they wanted to rent the apartment, and the landlady gave it to them with no details. After three days, they carried four children.”

As investigations continue, the community remains on edge, hoping for a breakthrough that will lead to the safe return of the children. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
