ICCSD boosts attendance near pre-pandemic levels due to new chronic absenteeism law

Attendance is on the rise in Iowa City. The Iowa City Community School District (ICCSD) recently revealed that the 2023-2024 academic year produced the highest attendance levels in three years.

Governor Kim Reynolds signed Senate File 2435 into law last year to combat chronic absenteeism in Iowa public school districts. In response, districts statewide have strengthened attendance policies and collaborative relationships with county attorneys and truancy officers.
